Hi everyone!
My butt already hurts from my adventure today at the Great Wall! About 15 of us took a bus two hours to simatai, a section of the wall that hasn’t been as restored as some and doesn’t get nearly the foot traffic, since it’s pretty far from the city center.
It was breathtaking and just overwhelming - I huffed and puffed my way all the way up (I wasn’t going to cheat and take the gondola) and then huffed and puffed partway down, where I then proceeded to zipline the remainder of the way. It was a truly lovely, sweaty, adventurous, and exhausting day.
Bargaining Brigitte
Yesterday morning, I made my way to the silk market, where I realized I have a knack and love for bargaining. Who would’ve thought? I’ve always been a bargain shopper, but didn’t realize how fun it is to haggle. When the ladies starting saying “you good bargainer” and “hey lady, you so stingy,” I figured I’d taken it far enough
After my shopping adventure, I headed into work, where we had our first full house opening, in that all 4 floors of the restaurant were in full swing. It went really well, and the USOC was really happy with the food.
Being part of all this is really spectacular, and I already have big plans to get my foot in the door for the next set of games…some people here are already on their 3rd, 4th, or 5th Olympics! Well, I’m off to bed to get some rest for a big day tomorrow. We’re feeding some very important folks tomorrow and have booked a bunch of new parties.
